ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
The England captain scored again in the Three Lions' 5-0 win over the Republic of Ireland at the weekend, which was an impressive display from the 31-year-old. Although he will be 33 by the time the next World Cup comes around, the Bayern Munich star made it clear he wants to continue playing for his country after the showpiece tournament in North America.

WHAT HARRY KANE SAID
When asked if the 2026 World Cup would be the last roll of the dice for the ex-Tottenham forward, he told Sky Sports: "I don't think so. I think sometimes there's a perception when you get into your 30s that you are coming to an end but for me personally I am performing at the highest level I have ever performed and feel as good as I have ever felt. It's about taking in the moment. I don't like to look too far ahead in my career, I never have. The World Cup is going to be exciting, in America it's going to be an incredible occasion. Ultimately, it's about trying to win that [World Cup], and as always you look at where you are and what you need to do to improve and that will be no different in a couple of years."

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Kane has consistently been England's top scorer in recent years but question marks have been raised about if he is the right man to lead the Three Lions' attack going forward. But the striker is still prolific for Bayern, where he has scored a whopping 61 goals in as many games, and his eye for goal is not showing any signs of slowing down. If he continues to fire in the goals, it is likely he will continue to get picked for England for years to come.

WHAT NEXT?
Kane will now return to Bayern to try and continue his impressive goalscoring form. The next time he plays for England, new manager Thomas Tuchel will be in charge in early 2025.
